Global Social Media & Influencer Marketing Director

We have recently been briefed & retained on this exciting new role with one of our long-standing clients in the luxury fashion market. Reporting to the VP of Digital Marketing directly, this newly created position will have responsibility to lead and inspire the global influencer & social media teams across global markets (Paris, Germany, Italy and UK offices).

We are looking for a business-oriented social media & influencer marketing expert to help our client further improve the performance of and contribution to the overall business objectives through social media presence and influencer marketing activity globally.

The key focus will be to define the strategy for influencer and social media marketing as part of the overall company strategy across all portfolio brands, and to lead the team to deliver against these strategies as part of the brands marketing plans.

The role includes:

  • Manage, mentor and inspire the Global Social Media and Influencer teams.
  • Define the social media strategy for all brands in portfolio, including all relevant OKRs and KPIs, and then to lead the team – direct team as well as adjacent teams – to deliver against these.
  • Define the influencer strategies for all major portfolio brands, including all relevant OKRs and KPIs, and then to lead the team – direct team as well as agencies – to deliver against these.
  • Articulate the content strategy required to support the execution of the social media strategy across every channel and work in partnership with the creative team (internal and external) to drive content development for every initiative.
  • Define the strategy to support the emerging transition to creator-led content, bridging the inputs from both the content strategy and the influencer strategy.
  • Develop close working relationships with the social platforms, becoming the point of reference for the rest of the marketing team for insights into the emerging trends, features and capabilities of the social platforms Deliver global social campaigns, maintain relationships with social media platforms and media partners, and coordinate with Global Media Team.
  • Build highly innovative and inherently social campaigns that resonate with the target audience and drive engagement, and lead to sales conversion supporting the commercial objectives of the business.
  • Serve as the central point of reference for local markets, ensuring they are informed about content scheduling, guidelines, and approvals, and collaborate with them to expand and manage influencer marketing initiatives in multiple markets.
  • Use real-time data, analytics, and insights to measure performance, inform new strategies, and identify new opportunities – all while keeping abreast of emerging trends, technologies and brainstorming new, creative approaches to social media campaigns.

Required Skills:

  • 7-10+ years’ experience in global social media and influencer marketing for a global brand or retailer.
  • University degree (bachelor or master level).
  • Extensive knowledge of digital media landscape, particularly social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X, Pinterest, YouTube, Snapchat, TikTok – and existing experience of working with and a network within the key platforms.
  • Understanding of major Asian social networks such as WeChat, Weibo, LINE is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Proven track record of leading impactful global social media and influencer-led activations in complex market setups.
  • Managerial ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams and affinity for cross-channel orchestration.
  • Experience with social metrics, web analytics tools, and data-driven insights.
  • Passion for innovative digital marketing and disruptive storytelling.
  • Proficient in social media tools and analytics dashboards.
  • Target-oriented and proactive working style.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Experience of operating in the fashion / music/ media / cultural sectors preferred.
  • Resilient with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and communication skills at all levels, full professional proficiency in English
